Remastered box sets news!

The Fest for Beatles Fans web store boasts that, as of today, it's the first website to take preorders on the two new Beatles box sets arriving on 9/9/09. It's listing the stereo box set at 219 USD, and the mono box set at 269 USD. I'm assuming this is suggested retail from the manufacturer, without any discounting, as the site isn't advertising any discount off SRP. The Fest for Beatles Fans will, though, include a free Alan Aldridge-designed Beatles t-shirt from Bloomingdale's collection with your box set order. I think the shirt must be one of the ones shown here, though I'm not sure.

You guys. 9/9/09 is totally almost here.

  1. Could be an expensive September, Meg! For my money, no pre-ordering; I prefer waiting and hunting for a better price after the feeding frenzy is over.

  2. Thanks, Megan. My strategy as of now is to get the stereo set, and save the mono for another day. If I were smart, I'd buy 'em both used, but I think I'll get caught up in remaster frenzy.

  4. Wait, I didn't mean to delete that, only the last sentence. Oh, crap. Anyway, as I was saying, I won't be able to resist buying one set off the bat-- probably the stereo one, since only the first run of the stereo set will have the DVD featurette making-of films built in, and I wants 'em. Then I'm hoping my mom buys me the mono set for Christmas. Yeah, I'm not above asking. She's a savvy Costco shopper anyway-- I'm sure she'll get a much better deal than I'd ever manage to.

  6. Hmm. They must be dissuading Amazon from discounting too much-- that seems low for them. Maybe it's not for a product like this, I dunno.
